LeBron James was born on 30 December 1984, in Akron, Ohio, the United States as LeBron Raymone James Sr. He was born into a poor Catholic Christian family. LeBron James father is Anthony McClelland, an ex-convict, who ignored his son from birth.

His mother, Gloria Marie James, at the time of his birth she was only 16 years old. Life for the family was often a challenge when James was growing up, as they moved from apartment to apartment in the seedier neighborhoods of Akron while Gloria struggled to find a regular job.
