Travis Kelce Celebrates His First Executive Producer Credit—Why He’s ‘Proud’ of ‘My Dead Friend Zoe’

Travis Kelce is making moves beyond the football field with his latest venture into film production. The 35-year-old Kansas City Chiefs star has joined as an executive producer for the upcoming movie My Dead Friend Zoe, which hits theaters on February 28.

A Powerful Story About Veterans

My Dead Friend Zoe stars Sonequa Martin-Green, Natalie Morales, Morgan Freeman, and Ed Harris

and is directed by Kyle Hausmann-Stokes. The dark comedy follows Merit (Martin-Green), an Army veteran dealing with PTSD after the death of her close friend Zoe (Morales).

Kelce, who became involved with the project after its South by Southwest debut last year, expressed his enthusiasm in a statement to People:

“Being part of My Dead Friend Zoe as an executive producer has been an incredible experience. It tells a compelling story and shines a light on the challenges our veterans face.”

Kelce also praised the film for putting strong female leads at the forefront:

“Sonequa and Natalie bring depth and authenticity to their performances, highlighting the strength, resilience, and leadership of women in the military.”

Why Kelce Joined the Project

Director Hausmann-Stokes, a veteran himself, told People that Kelce’s passion for military causes made him a natural fit for the film:

“Travis signed on because of his support for the military and veterans. Everyone on this film—from the leads to our 90 percent real veteran cast—was doing it for social impact. It was an honor to have Travis among our ranks.”

What’s Next for Kelce?

Kelce’s entertainment career has been expanding rapidly. Beyond My Dead Friend Zoe, he has lined up multiple projects, including:

  • A role in Happy Gilmore 2 with Adam Sandler
  • Hosting Prime Video’s Are You Smarter than a Celebrity?
  • A part in FX’s horror series Grotesquerie

Meanwhile, questions remain about his NFL future. After winning three Super Bowls with the Kansas City Chiefs, Kelce admitted on his New Heights podcast that he’s “taking time” to decide whether he will continue playing.

“I think I owe it to my teammates that if I do come back, it’s a wholehearted decision. I’m fully here for them.”

As for his relationship with Taylor Swift, sources say she is fully supportive of whatever decision he makes regarding his future.

For now, Kelce continues to balance his love for football with his growing career in Hollywood.
