Latto rose to prominence after releasing her 2019 single “Bitch from da Souf”, which gained significant traction and became a viral hit and also became her first entry on the Billboard Hot 100. The success of the single contributed to her rising prominence in the music industry.

On 21 August 2020, Latto released her debut studio album, “Queen of Da Souf”, which peaked at number 44 on the Billboard 200 and spawned the platinum-certified song “Muwop” (featuring Gucci Mane). The album featured collaborations with artists like Gucci Mane, Saweetie, and City Girls.

In 2020, Latto announced that she would be changing her stage name from Mulatto to Latto, acknowledging concerns about the term “mulatto” and its historical connotations. In January 2021, Latto announced that she would be changing her stage name from Mulatto to Latto.

Her mainstream breakthrough came following the release of her 2021 single “Big Energy”, which reached number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was certified triple platinum. On 25 March 2022, Latto released her second studio album “777”, which peaked at number 15 on the Billboard 200.

In 2023, Latto achieved her first number-one hit on the Hot 100 as well as on the Billboard Global 200 with her featuring on popular South Korean singer and BTS member Jungkook’s single “Seven”. Latto has denied rumors that she’s dating Atlanta rapper 21 Savage, with whom she collaborated on the song “Wheelie” in 2022.
