In a shocking incident, Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was attacked at his Mumbai residence in the early hours of January 16. The actor, who was asleep at the time, was stabbed six times by an intruder who managed to break into his home around 2:30 a.m.
The assailant, who attempted a burglary, reportedly engaged in a struggle with Saif before inflicting multiple wounds on him. The actor was swiftly rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where a team of doctors immediately began treating him.
Saif Ali Khan’s condition was critical initially, but hospital staff confirmed later that he was no longer in danger. Dr. Niraj Uttamani, the COO of Lilavati Hospital, shared that Saif underwent a 2.5-hour neurosurgery, with a plastic surgery procedure still in progress.
The actor’s health status remained under careful monitoring, and an update on his recovery is awaited. The Bandra Police have already registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the intruder, and the Crime Branch has taken charge of a parallel investigation.
The police confirmed that after the intruder attempted to enter the actor’s home, a scuffle ensued between him and Saif. During the altercation, the intruder managed to stab Saif six times, with two of the wounds being particularly deep and dangerously close to his spine.
At this stage, the police are interrogating three attendants who work at Saif’s residence, looking for any potential leads. The Crime Branch has formed seven teams to search for the suspect, including one team scouring CCTV footage for evidence, while others have been deployed across different parts of Mumbai and beyond.
