Ruturaj Gaikwad is a professional Indian cricketer. In domestic cricket, he plays for Maharashtra. Since 2021, he is captaining Maharashtra in T20 and List A for Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Ruturaj Gaikwad was born on 31 January 1997 in Pune, Maharashtra, India. He was born into a middle-class Marathi family which gives great importance to education. Ruturaj Gaikwad’s father’s name is Dashrath Gaikwad, he was an employee of the Defence Research Development Organisation (DRDO).

His mother Sawita Gaikwad is a school teacher in a municipality school. Gaikwad said his parents never insisted him to studies more and play less Cricket. He completes his primary schooling at St. Joseph school.

Later, he completes his secondary education at Lakashmibai Nadgude School in Pimple Nilakh, Pune. After high school, he went to Marathvada Mitra Mandal’s Polytechnic, 2nd-floor lab 3 Pc 1.

On 6 October 2016, he made his first cricket debut for Maharashtra in the 2016–17 Ranji Trophy. In December 2018, Gaikwad was bought first time by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the player auction for the 2019 Indian Premier League.

Indian Premier League 2021, he won the Orange Cap for scoring the highest runs (635) in the tournament and was also awarded the Emerging Player of the Year award. In July 2021, he made his international cricket debut for the Indian national cricket team against Sri Lanka.
