NLE Choppa is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and YouTuber. He is best known for his 2019 song “Shotta Flow”, which was platinum certified by the RIAA and ranked in the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100.

NLE Choppa was born on 1 November 2002 in Memphis, Tennessee, United States. He was raised in Southeast Memphis, Tennessee, in the Parkway Village area. NLE Choppa’s father’s name is Mr. Potts is an African American. NLE Choppa’s mother’s name is Angela Potts, she is of Jamaican descent.

Choppa completes his high school education at Cordova High School in Memphis, Tennessee. During high school, he played basketball. At the age of 15, he began freestyling with childhood friends. Later, he started taking music seriously.

In March 2018, Choppa released his first debut song, “No Love Anthem”, under the name of YNR Choppa. Later the same year, he released his debut mixtape, “No Love the Takeover”. NLE Choppa gained huge popularity after he released his breakout song “Shotta Flow”(2019).

The music video gained 10 million views in just a month. On 20 December 2019, Choppa released his debut EP titled Cottonwood. In 2020, NLE Choppa launched his YouTube channel named “Awakened Choppa”, where he documented his healthier lifestyle, which included veganism and gardening.
