Miriam and her husband were known for their support of former President Donald Trump, being the biggest donors to his campaign for the 2016 presidential elections. In 2018, Miriam Adelson was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by Donald Trump.

Miriam Adelson was born on 10 October 1945, in Tel Aviv, Mandatory Palestine as a Miriam Farbstein. Her dad was a prominent member of the Mapam ‘United Workers Party’ political party.

During the 1950s, her family settled in Haifa, where Adelson’s dad owned and operated several cinemas. She attended the Hebrew Reali School for 12 years, which is located in Haifa, Israel.

As an Israeli citizen, she did her mandatory army service as a medical officer in Ness Ziona. After completing a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology and Genetics from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, she earned a medical degree from the Sackler Medical School of Tel Aviv University.

Later she worked as a physician at Tel Aviv’s Rokach Hospital (Hadassah). In 1991, she married Sheldon Adelson and with whom she raised three adopted children. In 2021, after the death of Sheldon Adelson, she has owned more than half of the Las Vegas Sands casino business.
