Michael C. Hall Returns: New ‘Dexter’ Sequel Announced at Comic-Con

The “Dexter” universe will expand with a new sequel series called “Dexter: Resurrection,” announced by showrunner Clyde Phillips at San Diego Comic-Con. Michael C. Hall will reprise his role as the titular character, surprising fans at the panel. The new series will revive the lead character, picking up where the previous sequel, “Dexter: New Blood,” left off with the main character dead.

In addition to “Dexter: Resurrection,” a prequel series titled “Dexter: Original Sin” was promoted at Comic-Con, exploring the character as a younger man played by Patrick Gibson. Hall will narrate the prequel series, revealing the inner thoughts of young Dexter. “Dexter: Original Sin” is set to release in December 2024, while “Dexter: Resurrection” will start filming in January for a summer 2025 release.

Fans at the Comic-Con panel were thrilled by the surprise announcement, with Christian Slater expressing his excitement for the upcoming series. Slater, who stars in “Original Sin,” praised the writing and handling of Dexter’s character development. “Dexter” originally premiered in 2006 and ran for eight successful seasons, earning Hall multiple Emmy nominations and a dedicated fan base. The expansion of the “Dexter” universe is expected to bring fresh and exciting developments to the beloved series.
