Michael Lohan, the father of Lindsay Lohan, was arrested on Saturday, February 22, in connection with the alleged assault of his estranged spouse, Kate Major, as reported by various news outlets.
According to reports from People, TMZ, and Page Six, the 64-year-old was taken into custody without incident in Harris County, Texas, and faces a felony charge of “continuous violence against the family.”
The reports indicate that Major experienced pain during a hospital visit on February 21 and informed law enforcement that Michael had forcibly removed her from a chair several days prior. A female deputy observed bruises on Major’s body, as noted in the reports.
Michael was subsequently held on a bond set at $30,000, according to the outlets. Us Weekly has reached out to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office for further comments.
In a statement to TMZ on Sunday, Michael Lohan refuted the allegations, asserting, “I’ve remained silent long enough regarding Kate’s physical, emotional, and verbal abuse. She has orchestrated this situation. Initially, she accused me of stalking her! Really? Lol. When that claim fell through, she alleged that I pushed her out of a chair, which is completely false. My children can confirm my innocence, and I possess video evidence. I have additional recordings of her abusive behavior.” (As of the time of publication, Major has not publicly addressed Michael’s statements.)
Michael and Major, aged 42, were married in 2014 and have two sons, Landon, 12, and Logan, 10. Major initiated divorce proceedings in 2018. (Michael also has four children with his former wife, Dina Lohan, including Lindsay, who is 38 years old.)
The couple’s relationship has been tumultuous over the years. In June 2024, Major was arrested for breaching a protective order following a heated confrontation with Michael in the street, as reported by TMZ at that time.
Michael was arrested in February 2020 in Southampton, New York, on allegations of assaulting Major.
The Southampton Police Department reported that the domestic incident transpired at the residence of the Lohans; however, the arrest occurred two miles away on Main Street. “He was taken into custody without incident,” stated Sgt. Herman Lamison at that time.
Michael faced charges of “misdemeanor criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation (choking)” along with second-degree harassment, according to the sergeant.
