Khamzat Chimaev is a Swedish professional mixed martial artist and freestyle wrestler who competes in the Welterweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
He was born on 1 May 1994 in Chechnya, Russia. He is a three-time Swedish National Champion. Chimaev ranked three in the UFC welterweight rankings, as of 12 April 2022, He started wrestling when he was only five years old.
In 2013, when he was 18 years old, he immigrated to Sweden with his mother, joining his older brother, Artur Chimaev, who competes in freestyle wrestling. In 2016 and 2017, he won a gold medal at Swedish Freestyle National Championships at 86 kilograms, and in 2018 he did so at 92 kilograms.
On 21 May 2022, Chimaev married in Chechnya and the wedding was attended by Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov.
