Karnataka Mourns the Passing of Former Chief Minister S.M. Krishna

Bengaluru: Karnataka is observing a public holiday today as a mark of respect for former Chief Minister S.M. Krishna, who passed away early Tuesday morning at the age of 92. In his honor, all educational institutions and government offices in the state remain closed.

The Karnataka government has announced three days of state mourning to pay tribute to the veteran leader. During this period, public entertainment programs are banned across the state, and the national flag will be flown at half-mast on all government buildings.

Final Rites in Maddur

The last rites of S.M. Krishna, known as a stalwart of Karnataka politics, will be conducted with full state honors today in Maddur, his hometown. Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, a family relative of S.M. Krishna, is overseeing the arrangements.
