On December 2, 2016, he released his first full-length studio album, the self-titled “Kane Brown”. In October 2017, he became the first singer to have a simultaneous number one on all five major Billboard charts in five different countries.

In November 2018, he released his second album “Experiment”, which took first place in the Billboard 200.

Kane Brown was born on October 21, 1993, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, the United States as Kane Allen Brown. Is Kane Brown white? No, he comes from a mixed racial background, his father is an African-American and partly Cherokee, and his mother, Tabatha Brown is white.

However, he was raised by his single mother and family, because his father has been incarcerated since 1996. Sometimes homeless, his family moved around northwest Georgia when he was younger, from Rossville to Fort Oglethorpe to LaFayette in Georgia, to finally stay in Red Bank, Tennessee.

As a result, he attended several schools, among them Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe High School, in Georgia, Red Bank High School, in Ridgeland, and Soddy Daisy High Schools. His childhood was very horrible and bad because he was coming from a multiracial family.

Once in the interview, he shared his experience on racism, he said “I thought I was full white… I found out that I was biracial, and I still wasn’t thinking anything of it, but then I started getting called the N-word … I learned what it meant, and that’s when it started affecting me, I got in fights over it when I was little.”

Kane Brown grew up listening to country music but soon he became interested in R&B music in his teenage. After his school buddy Lauren Alaina’s breakthrough on American Idol, he auditioned for both American Idol and The X Factor.

In 2013, He was chosen for the American reality television show The X Factor but later he left the show due to some disagreement with the show producers. After a few months later Brown published his cover versions of popular songs on YouTube.

Music Career of Kane Brown

In 2014, Kane Brown started publishing videos of his covers of songs by Alan Jackson, Brantley Gilbert, Billy Currington, and other singers on the internet. Sooner he began to gain popularity through these videos on Facebook.

His cover of George Strait’s song “Check Yes or No”, released on September 30, 2015, went viral, receiving more than 7 million views. In 2014, Kane Brown signs a contract with the Zone 4 record company.

In the following months, Kane raised money via crowdfunding with which he manages to finance the publication of the EP Closer, which will therefore be published the following year. The project manages to enter the US charts related to country music.

On 21 October 2015, Brown released the single I Used To Love You Sober: the song is a great success and managed to get to number 2 of the ranking Country Digital Songs of Billboard. The success of the song allows the previous EP to improve its commercial results.

In the following months, Brown releases his first EP under Sony, Chapter 1, which also includes singles released after the previous EP. The record sells 23,000 units in its first week.

On October 6, 2017, a reissue of the album was released which includes the single Heaven: the song is another great success, so much so that it became the first song to reach number 1 in all the following charts: Top Country Albums, Hot Country Songs, Country Airplay, Country Digital Song Sales, Country Streaming Songs.

Experiment and Collaborations (2018-present)

In the summer of 2018, Kane Brown releases the singles Lose It and Weekend, which anticipate the release of her second album Experiment. The album was released on November 9, 2018, not before the arrival of a third single, Homesick. “Experiment” becomes the first album by Kane Brown to reach number 1 on the Billboard 200.

Subsequently, Kane Brown released several collaborations with artists such as Camila Cabello, Khalid, John Legend, Digital Farm Animals, and Marshmello. In April 2020, Kane Brown releases the single Cool Again and announces the release of a third EP.

This track is followed by two other singles “Be Like That” with Swae Lee and Khalid, “On Me” with Ava Max. A remix of Cool Again is also released with the participation of Nelly. On August 14, 2020, the EP Mixtape Vol. 1 is released, which includes 7 tracks including some of the previously released singles.
