Jason Kelce Says Brother Travis Was ‘Down Bad’ for Taylor Swift From the Start

Jason Kelce had a front-row seat to his brother Travis Kelce’s romance with Taylor Swift—and he knew right away it was different.

“I remember the first time he said he was hanging out with her, and I was like, ‘Are you kidding me? You’re hanging out with Taylor Swift? That’s insane [and] that’s awesome for you,’” Jason, 37, shared on The Steam Room podcast on Friday, February 21. “You meet a lot of people, [but] I think this felt different.”

Travis, 35, made headlines in July 2023 when he tried to shoot his shot with Swift on his New Heights podcast, joking about how she “didn’t want to meet” him when he attended her Eras Tour concert in Kansas City.

Soon after, Swift heard his “metal as hell” podcast shout-out, and the two quietly began dating. Their romance became public in September 2023 when Swift attended one of his Kansas City Chiefs games.

Jason Knew Travis Was Serious From the Start

Once Travis started dating Swift, Jason quickly realized his younger brother was completely smitten.

“What also felt different is the way he talks about her and talked about her from the moment he was with her,” Jason revealed. “You could tell how much he really, really liked her right from the get-go. That level early on was very eye-opening to me.”

Jason and his wife, Kylie Kelce, found out about the relationship before it made headlines—but they kept it quiet.

“We knew before everyone else knew, but it was not, like … it did not hit the group chat,” Kylie, 32, joked on the Call Her Daddy podcast earlier this month. “Jase and I found out together, but we knew before they hard-launched with her going to a game.”

Meeting Taylor Swift for the First Time

Jason and Kylie finally met Swift in person during a 2024 playoff game and later had an intimate double date.

“It was at home,” Kylie shared on Call Her Daddy. “I don’t know that I really ate the meal. This is going to sound terrible. I didn’t really eat the meal because I was eight weeks pregnant.”

Kylie, who is currently expecting her and Jason’s fourth child, later clarified that she wasn’t avoiding Swift’s cooking—she was just dealing with pregnancy nausea.

“I wouldn’t refuse anything, especially if I was without child,” she explained on the February 20 episode of her Not Gonna Lie podcast. “The home-cooked meals that I did not get to enjoy were not because I refused to eat them, but because the child in my womb overwhelmed me with hormones that suggested if I consume anything other than crackers, that it might be seen again if you catch my drift.”

Despite her nausea, Kylie was thrilled to spend time with Swift, adding another layer to the growing bond between the Kelce family and the pop superstar.
