J. Cole is a popular German-born American rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer, and basketball player. He initially gained attention as a rapper following his debut mixtape, “The Come Up”, which was released on 4 May 2007.
J. Cole’s music career gained momentum with the release of his mixtapes. His mixtapes include “The Warm Up” (2009) and “Friday Night Lights” (2010) both received critical acclaim and built anticipation for his debut studio album.
In 2011, J. Cole released his debut studio album, “Cole World: The Sideline Story”. The album debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 and included hit singles like “Work Out” and “Can’t Get Enough”.
His Subsequent studio albums include “Born Sinner” (2013), “2014 Forest Hills Drive” (2014), “4 Your Eyez Only” (2016), “KOD” (2018), and “The Off-Season” (2021). In 2023, J. Cole would reach his furthest success on the Billboard Hot 100 with his guest appearances on Lil Durk’s “All My Life” and Drake’s “First Person Shooter”.
The singles peaked at number two and number one respectively on the chart. All of his six studio albums have been certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
J. Cole has won numerous awards, throughout his singing career, including a Grammy Award for Best Rap Song, a Billboard Music Award for Top Rap Album, 3 Soul Train Music Awards, and 8 BET Hip Hop Awards.
J. Cole is married to Melissa Heholt, who met Cole while they were students at St. John’s University, and is the Executive Director of the Dreamville Foundation. The couple have two children together a son named Ibrahim Cole and a daughter named Nina Cole.
