Draupadi Murmu Biography
Draupadi Murmu was born on June 20, 1958, in Baidaposi village of the Mayurbhanj district in Odisha, India. She was born into a poor Santali tribal family. Draupadi Murmu Father, Biranchi Narayan Tudu, and her grandfather were Gram Pradhan under the Panchayati Raj system.
She completes her Bachelor of Arts degree from Ramadevi Women’s University in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India. After her graduation, she becomes a school teacher before entering state politics. Later Draupadi Murmu married Shyam Charan Murmu, who was a bank officer.
The couple had two sons, both of whom are dead, and a daughter Itishri Murmu.

Her political career began in 1997 when she was elected as a councilor of the Rairangpur Nagar Panchayat. In the same year, she became Vice President of Scheduled Tribes Morcha of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
On May 18, 2015, she became the first female governor of Jharkhand and the first female tribal leader from Odisha to get appointed as a governor in an Indian state. In June 2022, Bharatiya Janata Party nominated Draupadi Murmu as the NDA candidate for President of India for the year 2022 election.
