Being the oldest winner in Daytime Emmy history, Dick Van Dyke made history. The legendary American actor and comedian, who is 98 years old, was honored with a statue on 7th June 2024 night for his cameo appearance in the soap opera “Days of Our Lives.”
When the celebrity accepted the historic statue for his story arc on the Peacock program last September, he took more than just his wife Arlene Silver with him on stage.
“I feel like a spy from nighttime television,” Van Dyke joked while accepting the award. “I’m the oldest nominee in history. I can’t believe it. I was playing old men all my life. If I had known I was going to live this long, I would have taken better care of myself!”
Before winning the award for best guest performer in a drama series, Van Dyke created another piece of Daytime Emmy history by becoming the oldest nominee ever.
