California man arrested in killings of wife, 6-year-old son, and in-laws

Charges of murder have been brought against a California man in connection with the shooting deaths of his spouse, his 6-year-old son, and his in-laws. According to authorities, Shane Parrish Killian, 54, was taken into custody following a domestic shooting at his Alameda, California, home on Wednesday night.

Additionally shot, Killian’s one-year-old son was in critical condition at a nearby hospital. According to jail records, Killian is being held without access to bond due to accusations of first-degree murder, firearm assault, and child abuse. This Friday is when he will be arraigned. Court records do not list him with a counsel.

Police found multiple firearms at home

When police got to Killian’s house, they discovered several firearms, an agency spokesperson Sarah Henry told USA TODAY on Thursday. According to Henry, the agency is still investigating the shooting’s cause and motive.

“I’ll say this, these are the actions of a coward,” Alameda Police Chief Nishant Joshi stated at a press conference on Thursday. “This is a tragic and sad incident.” Joshi became tearful at the press briefing.

“Our officers are hurt, they’re professionals but they’re also human beings,” Joshi stated. “They are doing the best they can but they’re going to stay focused on making sure this family sees the justice they deserve.”
