She began acting as a child, through roles in theater productions, and television series. She later gained fame by participating in the television program The Mickey Mouse Club (1992). In 1997, Spears signed a contract with Jive Records.

Britney Spears was born on December 2, 1981, in McComb, and raised in Kentwood, Louisiana. She is the second child of Jamie Parnell Spears and Lynne Spears. She has an older brother, Bryan Spears, and a younger sister, Jamie Lynn, who is also a singer and actress.

At the age of three, she began taking dance classes in Kentwood and was selected for the kindergarten play. During her childhood, she also took gymnastics and singing classes and won several talent shows in state-level competitions.
