Bhumi Pednekar was born on 18 July 1989, in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. She was born into a middle-class Marathi-Haryanvi family. Bhumi Pednekar father, Satish Pednekar was a former Home and Labor Minister of Maharashtra, and her mother, Sumitra Hooda Pednekar was an activist in the anti-drug movement.
She completed her schooling at Arya Vidya Mandir in Juhu, Mumbai. At the age of 15, she went to study acting at Whistling Woods International, but she began her acting career with Yash Raj Films after she was expelled due to poor attendance.
She worked with Shanu Sharma in Yash Raj Films for six years as an assistant director.

Bhumi Pednekar made her Bollywood acting debut in 2015 with the film “Dum Laga Ke Haisha”, which was written and directed by Sharat Katariya. The film earned her the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut for her work.
That same year, Pednekar appeared in Man’s World, the four-part series on gender inequality that premiered on YouTube. In 2017, Pednekar appeared in the comedy-drama film, “Toilet: Ek Prem Katha”, alongside Akshay Kumar.
The film is a satirical comedy that supports government programs in India to promote sanitation, with a focus on eliminating open defecation, particularly in rural areas. The film was a huge commercial success, with worldwide earnings of over ₹311.5 crores (US$44 million).
It emerged as India’s one of highest-grossing films of all time and the highest-grosser worldwide too. How Bhumi Pednekar Lose Weight
During her acting in the film “Dum Laga Ke Haisha”, she gained more than 12 kg, despite being overweight before shooting. After filming finished, she began losing weight and shared her weight-loss methods and tips on social media.
Bhumi Pednekar shredded more than 32 kilograms of weight within a few months. She started eating healthy food and kept herself well-hydrated throughout the day by drinking plenty of water. She gave up eating refined sugar instead she start taking raw honey or stevia.
During her dieting, she used to start her mornings with a glass of warm lemon water, and after 30 minutes, she used to eat muesli with skimmed milk and flax seeds. For breakfast, she used to eat whole-wheat bread with 2 egg white omelets and 1 apple.
For lunch and dinner, she used to eat high protein-rich food like hummus with cucumber and carrots, Nutri-nuggets, or some homemade chicken gravy cooked in very little oil with a bowl of brown rice.
She used to do high-cardio exercises like running, cycling, jumping, weight training, and Swimming. She did high cardio exercise and weight training at least thrice a week, which helped her to burn more calories.
