At least 7 children were wounded in the downtown Indianapolis shooting

At least seven children, ages 12 to 17, were injured in a shooting that took place among a crowd gathered in downtown Indianapolis on Saturday night, police said.

On-duty officers heard multiple gunshots near the Circle Center shopping center at 11:30 p.m. local time, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

Indianapolis Deputy Police Chief Tanya Terry told reporters that they arrived to find “a group of teenagers,” six of whom had gunshot wounds. Sunday morning.

All of the injured children were taken to local hospitals, and the seventh child was later taken to an area hospital, Terry said, adding that while everyone recovered, poverty remained stable.

IT – It is unclear what led to the clash or how many people fired their weapons. No suspects were in custody as of Sunday morning, according to Indianapolis police.

Terry said police believe more than one weapon was involved and are investigating the scene.

– “It’s very concerning that there are so many young people who are victims of gun violence tonight,” Terry said. “This must stop.”

The police did not provide information regarding the nature of the situation. But Terry said officers saw a large group of teenagers wandering around downtown at night.
