Swae Lee is a popular American rapper, singer, and songwriter. Swae Lee is best known for being one-half of the hip-hop duo Rae Sremmurd, alongside his brother Slim Jxmmi (Aaquil Iben Shamon Brown). He has been described as ‘the songbird of our generation”.
In 2013, Swae Lee, along with Slim Jxmmi, formed the hip-hop duo Rae Sremmurd. He and his brother released some hit singles including “No Flex Zone” (2014), “No Type” (2014), and “Black Beatles” (2016) (featuring Gucci Mane), all of which topped the Billboard Hot 100.
These singles established Rae Sremmurd as a prominent figure in the rap scene. In 2015, Rae Sremmurd released their debut studio album, “SremmLife”. The album included popular singles like “Throw Sum Mo” and “This Could Be Us”.
Rae Sremmurd continued to achieve success with subsequent albums, including “SremmLife 2” (2016) and “SR3MM” (2018), which included the hit single “Powerglide.” Swae Lee is known for his melodic hooks and versatile style, contributing to the duo’s overall sound.
In 2017, he guest featured in the single “Unforgettable” with French Montana, which became a major hit and was later certified diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
In 2018, Swae Lee released his debut solo studio album “Swaecation”, as part of a triple album released alongside Rae Sremmurd’s “SR3MM.” The album showcased his artistry and explored a range of musical styles.
In the same year, he released the single “Sunflower” (with rapper Post Malone) and served as the lead single for the accompanying soundtrack to the American animated superhero film “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” (2018).
The song peaked atop the Billboard Hot 100, was nominated for two Grammy Awards, and became the highest-certified 18× platinum song in RIAA history. On 10 July 2020, Swae Lee released the hit single “Be Like That” (featuring Kane Brown and Khalid).
Swae Lee has a daughter, who was born in 2020, with Brazilian model and actress Aline Martins.
