Toyota Recalls 2025 Tacoma Over Driveshaft Issue

Toyota has announced a voluntary recall for certain 2025 Tacoma pickup trucks due to a problem with the front driveshaft joints. Around 6,000 four-wheel-drive models are affected, and the issue could impact both steering and parking functions.

What’s the Problem?

Toyota says the driveshaft joints may have been manufactured with the wrong material, making them more likely to break or deform. If that happens, the truck’s ability to turn could be compromised. On Tacomas with full-time four-wheel drive, the problem could also prevent the transmission from shifting into park. Without the parking brake engaged, that raises the risk of the truck rolling away.

What’s the Fix?

Owners of affected vehicles will need to bring their trucks to a Toyota dealer for inspection. If the faulty driveshaft joints are found, technicians will replace one or both parts at no cost. Toyota expects to notify all owners involved in the recall by late November 2025

What Owners Should Do

If you own a 2025 Tacoma, especially a 4WD model, watch for a recall notice in the mail or check Toyota’s official recall website. Using your truck’s VIN number, you’ll be able to confirm whether your vehicle is part of the recall.

Until then, Toyota recommends always engaging the parking brake when the truck is parked—especially for four-wheel-drive models.
