Taylor Swift Announces ‘most wonderful’ and ‘record-breaking’ Eras Tour will end in December

Taylor Swift knows that all good things must come to an end, including her record-breaking Eras Tour. During an emotional speech at the 100th show of her record-breaking tour on Thursday night, the megastar confirmed that this remarkable musical journey would conclude this year.

“This is actually the 100th show of the tour,” she announced to her fans at the first of three consecutive shows in Liverpool, England, eliciting joyful screams from Swifties. “That blows my mind. It doesn’t feel real because this has been the most exhausting, all-encompassing, yet most joyful, rewarding, and wonderful experience of my life. These moments with you,” she said, as shown in a video circulating on social media.

Swift acknowledged that many in the audience might wonder how she would mark the milestone. “The celebration of the 100th show for me means this is the very first time I’ve ever admitted to myself and to you that this tour is going to end in December.”

“That’s it, and while December seems far away, it also feels like we just started because you have made this so much fun for us. We wanted to do 100 shows, 150-something shows in total,” she continued.

The Eras Tour, which kicked off in Glendale, Arizona, on March 18, 2023, has been extended multiple times since its initial announcement. It has traveled across the United States, South America, Asia, and Australia, and is currently in its European leg before returning to North America.

There appear to be no additions to the current dates listed on her website, with the final show set for Vancouver, Canada, on December 8.

“This tour has really become my entire life,” Swift admitted. “It’s taken over everything. I used to have hobbies, but I don’t know what they were anymore. When I’m not on stage, I’m at home thinking of clever acoustic song mashups and what you might want to hear. When I’m not on stage, I’m dreaming about being back on stage with you.”

Swift thanked her fans for their dedication, including making plans far in advance, memorizing lyrics, and figuring out transportation.

The Eras Tour has significantly impacted tourism, recently causing a spike in air travel across Europe. United Airlines revealed in May that demand for flights to Milan and Munich, where Swift is set to perform in July, has soared by more than 45% compared to last year.

Her recent concerts in Edinburgh, Scotland, even led to seismic activity being detected four miles from the stadium where she was performing, according to the British Geological Society.

This historic tour has also been accused of pushing up inflation and is predicted by British bank Barclays to boost spending by nearly $1 billion in the United Kingdom.
