While minivans still exist, SUVs have become the go-to vehicle for American families. Whether it’s getting the kids to school, hauling sports gear, or hitting the road for a family vacation, the modern SUV is built for it all.
And if you’re in the market for a new family SUV, it might be smart to wait just a little longer. Several exciting new models are launching in late 2025 and early 2026, many with hybrid engines, upgraded tech, and bold new styling. Here’s a quick look at seven upcoming SUVs that are designed with families in mind.
1. 2026 Hyundai Palisade

The next-generation Palisade is hitting showrooms this summer, with a hybrid version arriving in the fall. It brings bold new looks that resemble a Range Rover and introduces a rugged XRT Pro model for outdoor-loving families. The standard V6 engine delivers 287 hp, while the hybrid bumps it up to 329 hp. It seats up to eight and includes dual 12.3-inch screens inside.
2. 2026 Jeep Cherokee

The Cherokee is making a comeback after a short break. This time, it’s going hybrid. While Jeep hasn’t shared many details yet, we expect a combination of a gas engine and electric motor, and possibly a plug-in hybrid version with the “4xe” badge. More info is coming later this year.
3. 2026 Kia Telluride

Kia’s popular three-row SUV is getting a full redesign. Closely related to the new Palisade, the 2026 Telluride will offer a similar engine lineup: a 287-hp V6 and a 329-hp hybrid. Expect a tougher, more rugged look. It’s likely to be revealed by the end of this year, with sales beginning early next year.
